I also don't mind a paid solution, so long as it's not some stupid subscription model that makes us re-buy the software we're already using every year and charges us more per user. So - suggestions? I'd kinda prefer the server to run on Linux so I don't have to get another copy of Windows, although I'm no Linux expert I can fumble my way around well enough usually. They're only just now, months later, starting to use the inter-office IM system I set up. Also, it really needs to work with Outlook as everyone here is extremely resistant to change. Our needs are really fairly basic - I'd like synced mail, calendar sharing, and the cherry on top would be task/todo sharing. Them not liking Google's cost puts Office 365 out of the question, and so I'd like to set up a decent in-house mail server. I found some very good features in Mailbird and one of the best things about it is that it integrates easily with other apps for productivity such as Evernote, Google Docs and Google Calendar. Mailbird is a fairly new Outlook alternative.

If you’re looking for alternatives to Outlook Public Folders, you might think GSuite’s Collaborative Inbox might be the answer. The company I took over the net admin job for is currently using Yahoo! Bizmail for it's mail service and it's driving me crazy. Google Collaborative Inbox isn’t a powerful alternative either.
